When a hatch is not occurring, try nymphing using caddis larva (size #16-#18), sow bugs (size #16-#18), or pheasant tails (size #18-#20). We recommend fishing near the inlet. Try using a swivel and sinker with an 18- to 24-inch leader tipped with a pea-sized ball of rainbow PowerBait. Our annual netting survey found a lot of healthy rainbow trout from two to four pounds, with the largest coming in at six pounds. Also, let us know if you are successful at catching any tiger muskie. Access is available in the Bicknell Bottoms on Division of Wildlife Resources property near the town of Bicknell. Runoff has begun and the water level is starting to rise. DWR has received report of anglers illegally harvesting walleye from the tributaries. Try using a small maroon, red, black or olive midge. It may take as long as 2 months for the water level to inundate the Castle Rock Cut and Antelope Point launch ramp. In the 36 years I have been writing the report, I have encountered and worked with lots of anglers throughout the state, each with their own unique style, techniques and preferences. The water temperature is getting into the upper 50s on sunny days, meaning that bass are starting to wake up but are not yet as active as they will be once it passes 60 degrees in the next couple of weeks.
